WME: In the Studio (2024)
As a selected participant in the 2024 WME Fashion Incubator program, I was tasked alongside other incubees with conceptualizing a shoot around the 2025 Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," which explored the theme of Black Dandyism. Black Dandyism is a term explored by writer Monica L. Miller in her book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. Black Dandyism is a cultural and aesthetic practice that reclaims the European “Dandy” as a tool for resistance, self-expression, and identity formation across the African Diaspora. Drawing on oppressive histories, it challenges racial and social hierarchies by transforming dress into a tool of agency and subversion.
